Checking Off the “To Do” List

Chosen and Cherished Ministries is moving forward and several things are complete! In the last 4 months the tile, windows, doors, and outside walls have been finished on the house. Following that we signed the lease and obtained the keys. Our 501(c)3 status was approved in the US. We have formed an active and involved US Board. Precious friends have started gathering and bringing/sending things off our list of needs to open the home.

Currently we are still in the “waiting” period (many of you are familiar with this) of getting final licensure from the Haitian government, though we have been given the verbal go ahead. We are forming a Canadian board and in the early stages of filing for charity approval in Canada. We have a work team booked and coming next month to build bunk beds, closets, shelves, and to apply a coat of paint.

THANK YOU for having invested in the lives of these world changers

We are SO THANKFUL for all who have expressed interest, encouraged, and carried us in prayer as we try to get everything done as quickly as possible to get the kids into their new home and starting the adjustment of their new life… though it is not as abrupt and dramatic a change as their friends have experienced going to the US, there will still be huge adjustments. New schools, chores, responsibilities, understanding and accepting (each in their own time and way) what a family is, household rules, and grieving the loss of friends and caregivers and their old life, among other things. These kids have been in institutions, some of them for their entire lives, it’s all they remember.

IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE! The sooner these children and pre-teens can begin to embrace and adjust to their new life the better. And we (us at CCM and YOU!) are well on our way to making that happen. Standing in the way are final license approval, and of course… finances.

“No, I will not abandon you as orphans--I will come to you.” John 14:18

We believe that God has called the multitudes to care for His children. “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress,” James 1:27a. We believe that these 10 children have a much larger family than they know, one that extends beyond boards, to hundreds and thousands of people they do not know and may never meet, but are vital to God’s work in their lives no matter what part they play.

THANK YOU for having invested in the lives of these world changers, thank you for your prayers, and for your encouragement, for your donations, and for your willingness to spread the word and help build Chosen and Cherished Ministries into a home for children from hard places to heal and grow into leaders in their own community. Please keep it up! We’re on our way to getting those doors open!
