Meet John Love

May 31st 2012

“I’m the big brother.” At 6 yrs old this little boy had taken on the full responsibility of his little sister including her care and protection first through their abandonment at one orphanage, and then being ripped away and moved into the hands of yet another. The weight of his charge was heavy and his sad little sister looked to him for every need, which though he could not fill for himself struggled to remain strong and reassure her. He’d raise his little 27 lbs body up to its full 37 inch height and shield her from these strangers, never taking his eyes off her as she was picked up, carried, and talked to by these people that were not yet to be trusted.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Now - The Wise Thinker

John-Love-Second-After

This is a boy of deep heavy thoughts. He worries. The unknown is hard for this caretaker man-child. This boy has never taken the time to worry about himself but only about his loved ones around him. What will happen if a family member is sick? When are we buying weekly food supplies this week? Where are his little sisters and are they being watched? What do others need? Over the last year he has shown much progress with this and is finally allowing others to take care of him. He has learned to trust. He is learning how to be a kid. He is slow to let people in but when you get there, there is nowhere else you’d rather be. It is such a privilege and an honor to be in his circle of needed people. John Love is fun, quick, smart, capable and such a huge blessing to be around.
