Meet Melissa
May 31st 2012
6 year old Melissa looked much more like a small 3 yr old than the first grader that she was. At 28.5 lbs and 34.5 inches Melissa easily fit into our smallest toddler clothing. Melissa had a lot on her mind and a healthy set of lungs to say it with. Full of loud opinions, they never stopped coming. Melissa was not going to allow herself to be vulnerable or without a say in what was happening. Maybe once upon a time, but no longer. To compensate for her insecurity she put others down, laughing and making fun of her less “confident” and more withdrawn peers.

Meet Melissa
Now - The Mother Figure
Melissa is mature beyond her years and uses it to intentionally bless everyone around her. Her desire to help out and please is always welcoming! Melissa is the first to tell her siblings to cut out the arguing or as she likes to say “this stops now.” She is quick to remind them to put their bowl in the sink or put the cap back on the markers. She doesn’t care for things out of place and will gently remind her sisters that she wasn’t in the play room so she will not be the one cleaning it, only to find her an hour later organizing the toys. She may stop only to fix her brothers hair or to correct a child on how they buttoned their shirt. Melissa biggest concern in life is helping lift the loads of others. The peers she once mocked she now humbly considers a joy to motheringly nurture. She thrives on caring for others’ needs and has great self-motivation and service skills.
