We Signed The Lease !

We Signed The Lease !

I am just feeling so incredibly blessed as I write this. One of the steps that is needed for Chosen and Cherished to be able to submit our papers into Haitian Social services is to prove that we have a current lease on a house that has been looked over and approved by both an engineer as well as a social worker.

All of this takes a lot of time, money and work to accomplish. Leasing a house large enough for over a dozen people is not an easy task financially. We are THRILLED to announce that the money has been raised and this step is indeed finished! We signed the lease to the house this month and are very close to having those last papers submitted into social services!! This is a huge blessing and weight off of my shoulders!

As for me and my house we will serve the lord Joshua 24:15

Searching for a house in Haiti is a little different than back at home and being new at this proved to be a bit of a challenging task. With many hours spent showing up at houses where keys were missing, meetings at 2:00 really meant somewhere around 3:00 or 4:00, squatters living there but promises from the landlord to kick them out, and so many other situations I never thought I would come across. I was convinced we would never find a place to facilitate the needs of Chosen and Cherished.

God again used this opportunity to remind me of how faithful and loving He is. We walked though countless amount of homes that just never felt right and then I felt it! The second we stepped into this home I knew it. This is it! This is where hearts will continue to heal. This is where we will learn how to be a family. This is where I will raise my children. This house will be our home.

As you walk into the property a spacious front yard wraps all the way around to the backyard creating more than enough space for a basketball court, a space to ride bikes or several comfortable corners to tuck into and read a book. Walking in through the carport brings you into the kitchen which is big enough to comfortably create meals and memories for ten children. The open floor plans allows you to see and hear all going on throughout the kitchen into the living room with a second kitchen entrance taking you to the dining area. This will allow us all to be together while creating enough space for us not to be crammed into a room.

Downstairs is also the home of two bedrooms and a bathroom, which will be the boys’ quarters. The rooms are comfortably spacious and will allow personal space as well as room for growth at the children get older. Up one flight of stairs takes you to a two bedroom and shared bathroom for the girls and an empty guest room for friends and family to visit. Down the hallway a few feet away is a perfect set up for an office which then breaks off into a bedroom for myself.

The top floor is also equipped with three balconies providing plenty of space for the children to relax, sit and work on homework, play games or just have a little alone time. The backyard is in need of some TLC but with a bit of man power and time we will have it kid friendly quickly. The overgrown yard is bursting with fruit trees. Mangos, avocadoes, key limes, guava, and bananas are just a few of the local blessings that come with the house.

I am just in awe as God continues to work through Chosen and Cherished. He is good when we are not, He is faithful when we doubt, and He is in complete control. I am so grateful and humbled that He has chosen me. That He is using me to be that person in these perfect ten little lives.
